Congratulations Nick on a well deserved win at Stadium Drift Australia in Stanthorpe on the weekend. Great battles all day & the finals were intense to say the least.
Top 8 we came up against Simon Mercer Drift QLD who is a fierce competitor in his LS1 Silvia & after a very close 1st battle the judges couldn't pick it & a re-run was called. On the re-run Simon had a spin & Nick was awarded the win.
Top 4 we drew Championship leader Mick Rosenblatt who was in a borrowed Super...charged 350z. Knowing the challenge ahead wasn't going to be easy Nick gave it his all on his lead lap & managed to put a gap between him & Mick. On the chase lap Nick stuck to the 350z's door & didn't let go & was awarded the Win.
This was it, the place we had been fighting for all day.....The Final battle for 1st or 2nd & it was going to be with fellow Achilles Driver & arch nemesis Rob Whyte. Rob & Nick have had so much battle practice with each other over the years Im sure they know every move each other is going to make. The first battle was too close to call & the judges called a re-run. This was going to be an epic run as Nick wanted the win over Rob so bad he could almost taste victory & was only 1 run away from achieving it. Rob led first & Nick put in an amazing chase run almost making contact on every transition & pushed Rob all the way to the finish line. Nicks lead run he pushed his VE SS Drift Ute to the limits & threw it in hard & fast into the first corner Blazing the Tyres. Rob tried to match the entry but couldn't make it stick & spun.
Victory was Nicks after a full day of intense driving & a well deserved number 1 spot on the podium.
