Qualified 1st and Placed 3rd in SDA Round 3 @ Wakefield Park
After an extremely event full night at Full Lock Motor sport track Friday night, it was a true team effort to end up even getting to Wakefield Park on Saturday for round 3. Entering the comp on Friday night in the pouring rain was not the best idea the team had , but did not really have an option due to DriftKid blowing the turbo up at QR on Monday for practise.

This week was very event full with the turbo gone and the race to have have a new one put on and re tuned down the coast at ChipTorque. As it went down there for tuning, it was not until Thursday night when the ChipTorque crew rang Martin (Team Manager) and told him that the Skyline had drop 6th cylinder and that they could not tune the car. Making the mad dash down to the coast Thursday night with the driftkid in car, they get there to find the ChipTorque crew working fiercely to see if it was the cylinder or just a coil pack. Turns out, it starts to run back on 6 with the coil pack cleaned but at this stage, there was a few other issues which was stopping them from tuning the vehicle to its peak and the rev limiter ended up being capped at only 6000...DriftKid was not happy.

As they needed to test the tune and the new turbo before they headed down to Wakefield for the 15 hour plus trip, they decided the only place was Archie and the Friday night comp and that they would test it there whilst competing. With some very silly decision made by the officials to allow drifters to go out in packs of 4 to battle in the pouring rain, with pros, L2's and some newbies, of course it turned out to be a disaster for one of the only 3 heading down for the SDA championship..... DriftKid .... Not keen on doing a 4 battle, a newbie spins out of control in front of the DriftKid and smacks head on into the DriftKids skyline front bar where the intercooler is. With a bolt through the intercooler and the bar cracked in four places, it was dim results for the Team as from then on the DriftKid's battling was not in top form as he was worried about damaging the skyline for round 3 in SDA where he is in the lead for the premiership. But did qualify 1st and mechanical issues stopped him in his battle for the top four against Scottie Maiden. With a time out for Nick to get his car back on track, more miscommunication on the officials side and Nick made it to the track in Dans car only to be told by an official he was too late. Even though 1 official told Team JNC he had 2 minutes.

But they forged on to Wakefield to get there and only get 2 laps down, and the Skyline in back running on only 5 cylinders. Stuck in FREEZING (minus 2 degrees) at a servo, Craig, from Craig's custom wiring (pit crew leader) and Fabian (pit crew) works on the car for 3 hours trying to find the problem with the 6th cylinder. With a $30 investment into Chemiweld, the car seems back to 6 cylinders and we finally go to rest for the big day ahead. 7am in the morning (minus 5 I swear) and off to the track where they did 2 oil changes, filters, hoses and some more chemiweld, the pit crew pray she holds up for the day.

With the 1st 2 battles out of the way and not 1 lap of practise, kid holds up ok. 2 more battles and we are starting to see the DriftKid start to have some fun with some great battles and some terrific technique sliding past some out of control spinners on turn 1. Wakefield park had a massive long straight which bought you flying into turn 1 which was harsh and only a select few, including the pros, got it down pack. But of course, DriftKid qualified 1st and the battle for first place again was with Scottie Maiden whom had done some wicked drifting this weekend. This was scotties track... On the first race to the first corner, they were hauling arse and came into the corner so aggressively fast, they both lost control and spun and Scottie won the next battle due to proximity. Scottie takes the win and DriftKid battles for 3rd or 4th and takes out the 3rd place. Placing 3rd, this gives the DriftKid 33 points for the SDA premiership ladder and a very close Scottie Maiden on 31 points. This SDA will be a battle between the archy boys...
Well done DriftKid, and well done to the Team JNC Pit crew whom worked so hard in the freezing cold for the love of it....You Rock Craig, Fabian, Martin, And Huffy...
