Friday the 12th June in theSuperCheap Drift comp,
with Nick in 3rd place on the
points ladder was an event
full night with all concerned.
In the top 4 battles, Nick is
just about to battle Josh
Panton for 1st, 2nd, 3rd
or 4th place and as the action starts, it becomes apparent
that Nick has lost all power in the Skyline. With a short
pit break to evaluate the situation, a small $5 hose
connected to the intercooler has grinded Nick to a halt.
Whilst pit crew Martin and Craig and some generous
drifting colegues work furiously under the bonnet,
Nick finally enters the track for a re-battle with Josh
Panton. The temporary fix of the intercooler hose did not hold
up for 1 battle and with in seconds Nick was driving into the pits
again with no power. As Josh Panton so kindly allows time in the
pits again with out using the previous battle as a run, Nick and
his pit crew try once again. At this stage there was no way to
fix the hose and Buckna - another fellow drifter offers Nick to run
his last battle in his car. Nick gave it all he had, driving someone
Else's drift car for the first time, he battled Josh and lost, placing
Nick 4th in Round 3 and still 3rd on the points ladder..
